After a minor plumbing leak, I called RemediationX to handle potential water damage and mold in my Las Vegas home. They began with a detailed assessment and explained their remediation plan. The team removed damaged materials, dried affected areas, and applied treatments to prevent mold growth.

Water Heaters in The Hills and The Trails Garages
Many homes in The Hills and The Trails went up in the 1990s with the water heater in the garage or a hall closet. Whether it is the first tank or its second, hard water from Lake Mead leaves scale at the bottom. The steel under that scale rusts, and one day the tank splits. A garage tank floods the garage and runs under the door into the laundry room or hall. A closet tank soaks the carpet and the walls on both sides. Shut the cold valve on top of the tank and turn off the gas or power. Then call us. We pull out the water, lift wet pad and set LGR dehumidifiers and air movers.

Copper Lines Wearing Thin Under the Slab
Summerlin homes sit on concrete slabs, and many of the older ones have copper water lines under or inside the floor. Years of hard water wear that copper thin from the inside. When a pinhole opens, the water spreads sideways under tile and carpet where you cannot see it. Watch for a warm spot on the floor, a damp baseboard, or the sound of running water with every tap off. A water bill that jumps for no reason is another clue. We map the wet area with thermal imaging and moisture meters before anyone cuts into a floor. Once the line is fixed, we dry the slab and replace what was ruined.
When Monsoon Rain Gets Past Worn Roof Tile
Summerlin’s concrete tile roofs look solid for decades, but the felt under the tile is what keeps water out. On homes from the early 1990s that felt is often brittle and torn. From July through September, monsoon storms push rain hard and sideways. Water slips under the tile, through the worn felt and into the attic. You may first see a brown ring on a ceiling or a stain below a window. Stucco joints around windows and doors can let wind driven rain in too. We find where the water went, dry the attic and walls, and replace the ceiling drywall ourselves.

Questions
Asked in Summerlin
Will my insurance cover a burst water heater in Summerlin?
Sudden bursts are often covered, while slow leaks that ran for months often are not. Every policy is different. We write the estimate in Xactimate, the same software most carriers use, and work directly with your adjuster.
My Summerlin home has a tile roof. Why is the ceiling wet after a storm?
The tile sheds most rain, but the felt under it does the real work. On homes built in the 1990s that felt is often worn out. Wind driven rain gets under the tile and through the felt. We dry the attic and ceiling, and a roofer should look at the felt.
How long does drying take in a Summerlin home?
Most clean water jobs reach dry standard in 3 to 5 days. The dry desert air helps once we open things up, but water trapped under tile or behind cabinets still needs dehumidifiers and air movers. We take readings every day until it is dry.
