- Stop the water at the sourceIf you can reach the valve, shut it. The main shut off is often at the front of the house or in the garage.
- Kill power to wet roomsTurn off the breaker for any room with standing water, only if you can reach the panel without standing in water.
- Take photos, lots of themFrom the doorway and up close, before anything is moved. Your insurer will ask for them.
- Leave the flooring and drywallYour adjuster will want to see the damage in place. We log moisture readings and document everything.
